Falling From Earth to Sky
February 1st, 2007
What is happening inside me
Feels like the lightening storm
That you took photographs of.
My favorite photograph
Is from a vantage point
High above the highway.
Cars plummeted down the multi-lane road
Creating ribbons of light,
And an impenetrable wall
Between you and
The city;
Between you and
The lightening storm brewing
Far on the horizon.
That lightening storm on the horizon
Is the hope we keep holding out for.
That massive cloud
Lit by indescribably beautiful bolts
Of shocking earthly phenomena
That is us.
We are so close,
Near enough to see what could be,
Near enough to see what should be.
Yet,
Not close enough to touch,
Not close enough to jump
Headfirst
Into the passionately ethereal possibilities
That lay before us.
Lightening strikes from the ground up.
It is the physical manifestation
Of taking something earthly
And magnifying it
To its heavenly potential.
All it takes is
The right people,
The right weather,
And open hearts
For the unexpected wonder
Of falling from earth
To sky.
